The Aspire Channel Swim 2016 · 5 December 2016 to 31 March 2017 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

This year I have decided that I would like to challenge myself and do something for charity, so here is that challenge. I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2016, which involves me swimming the distance of the Channel (22 Miles). I have decided to make it a bigger challenge and swim the distance twice over 12 weeks in Harpenden Swimming Pool. This equates to 2832 lengths. This will be a big challenge as I haven't swam much since my mid teens and I am definitely not as streamline as I was then.

I am completing this challenge to help raise much needed funds for Aspire who help people who have a Spinal Cord Injury, by providing the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently. Every 8 hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury so please help by sponsoring me. The more we raise together the more of a difference that can be made to help these people. Please be generous!

Many Thanks

Tom
