Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac) is the only hospice in Staffordshire supporting Children, Young Adults & Adults. Care is given to patients who are living with a life-limiting illness at our two sites and in the community. We also provide support for patients families and their carers.

Story

So. Bristol Channel. Not many people have swum it.

Theres four routes that have been swum: Penarth-Weston (9 miles), Penarth-Clevedon (12 miles), Porthcawl-Glenthorne (16 miles) and the monster that is Swansea to Ilfracombe at 25 miles - further than the English Channel and only swum, so far, by two people. Only a handful of people have swum each route, my plan; swim all four in a season!!! Buy four get one free; Ill also be swiming the English Channel in June with the relay team Dreigiau'r Sianel (The Channel Dragons!).

Silly amount of swimming. Silly Timing Plan. Training is going to be silly (think its going to all be in a cold endless pool!!). Pray for good weather, pray for sun (channel swim rules, Ill be in speedos!) and maybe pray for a new pair of shoulders for my 40th Birthday in September!! (did someone say midlife crisis?!?)

Whatever happens, its going to be fun!! Hopefully on the way we can raise some cash for the Dougie Mac Hospice that gave Skyes Dad (and family) so much help earlier this year. See you on the water. Follow the swims on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/Off-The-Slip-369343773755785/

Dreigiau'r Sianel EC relay 1-9th June 2021

Pennarth- Weston 19th June

Pennarth Clevedon 5th July

Porthcawl - Glenthorne 30th July

Swansea - Ilfracombe 31st August.

All will be to channel swim rules, speedos, goggles and a hat and no touching the boat or another person. Ill be ratifying with the MSF; the list of current ratified swims is here...like I said, not many have swum it!: https://longswims.com/events/bristol-channel/
