Story
Around 20 students at Monmouth School Sixth Form are raising money to aid the aftermath of the Moroccan earthquake. Our charity will be Human Appeal, which operates teams on the ground to distribute aid tailored to individual needs. A large group from the school recently went on an expedition in the Atlas Mountains in the summer, staying and walking very close to the epicentre of September’s earthquake, as well as spending a few days in Marrakesh, which has also been affected. It is sobering to see the towns we visited and stayed in debilitated by the earthquake, with buildings crushed and thousands displaced from their homes. On Sunday 1st October, a number of students who went on the trip and other supporters will be going on a sponsored walk up the Sugarloaf, in replication of our ascent of Mt Toubkal, the highest peak of the Atlas Mountains. We would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor those you know individually or contribute to the collective fund.
