Story
As someone who has used the services of First Light, I really want to give something back. Their service is free, safe and confidential, and if it just helps fund the therapy and counselling for one person like it did for me then this hasn’t been a waste.
First light helped me get control back on my life, and take control away from my abuser, so this is my way of paying it forward.
In march 2017 a study found;
- 20% of women and 4% of men have experienced some type of sexual assault since the age of 16, equivalent to 3.4 million female and 631,000 male victims
- 31% of young women aged 18-24 report having experienced sexual abuse in childhood (NSPCC, 2011)
I was a statistic, and now I’m a survivor and I want to help someone else go from statistic to survivor.
