Story
Every year there are approximately 152,000 strokes in the UK. That's one stroke every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.
My mum had 2!!! A mild one in her 50's and the 2nd when she was 63. The second was a spinal stroke - a serious stroke that paralysed her from the neck down. She already had severe problems wih movement due to other health issues(such as Parkinsons, Spleenectomy, Cervical spondylosis.....) however this stroke meant she could no longer feed herself, walk, sit up on her own - do nothing. She was dependent on carers and family 24 hours a day. My mum sadly passed away on the 23rd November 2011 and since then I have ran Marathons to keep my mum's memory alive. I have ran for Parkinson's, Willow Wood Hospice and When you Wish Upon a Star now my 4th will be for The Stroke Association - a charity close to my heart.
Not only will I be running a Marathon on the 6th April I will also be taking on The Thames Path Challenge on the 13th September, 50km (31.07miles) from Runnymede to Henley.
Please if you can spare a £1 please donate to this worthy cause.
Remember stroke changes lives.
Thank you xx
