So I'm nearly there.  George & Isaac 5km Swim, Siena 3km swim., Me the Greater Manchester Marathon done and dusted on the 19th April now it's time for the Virgin London Marathon on 26th April.  2 Marathons 7 days....

I and my children do all this  in memory of my dear mum who passed away in 2011 after a 10 year battle with crippling illnesses and my father in law Frank Oxby for the fantastic Barnardo's Charity.

Much of my mum's illness together with her tremendous courage can be traced back to the poverty she endured as a child in the Mezzogiorno of 1950's Italy.   The youngest of 10 children, of which only 4 survived, begging on the streets and working full time aged 5 in and leaving the family home to seek work in the big city aged 8. In 1950's Italy there was no Barnardo's looking out for children in poverty. 

And my dear father in law, whom I never had the chance to meet.  A great man from what I have been told - a Banardo's child.

So far George (my son ) and Isaac completed their 5km swim on 29th August 2014.  That's 200 lengths of a 25mtr pool without stopping or touching the sides.  An extremely hard task for an adult never mind a child!  And Siena wow, 3km (120 lengths) at 7!!!!  I think I've definitely taught them well lol...
