London to Barcelona (for the Joe Noakes Trust) · 22 September 2017

The Joe Noakes Trust supports and enables pre-school aged children on the autistic spectrum to access a specialist early intervention therapy called Applied Behaviour Analysis. 'ABA' is a proven method of individualised therapy which enables children with autism to truly reach their full potential.

Story

Thanks for visiting my "London to Barcelona Cycle Ride (for the Joe Noakes Trust)" fund raising page.

I am aiming to raise some money so we can help young autistic children reach their full potential.  I'm doing this, along with some colleagues at Cisco, to help raise funds for the Joe Noakes Trust.

Joe was the son of a colleague, Nick Noakes.  Joe was severely autistic with a poor prognosis for future development.  Nick and Nina researched interventions for Joe and settled on an "ABA" programme to help him reach his full potential.  The transformation in Joe was magical and dramatic.  From being told he would never walk or talk they uncovered a mischievous and determined little man who did both those things, and much more......

Sadly the ABA programme can only be accessed privately which means it is inaccessible to many families who simply cannot afford it.

The challenge of cycling the 1500kms across the whole of France and into Catalonia over 10 days aims to raise enough money to help fund an ABA programme for 2 kids for 2 years.

The route includes a variety of steep river valleys, something ominously called "The Black Mountain" and of course the "rolling" Pyrenees.  And the excuse to consume plenty of French cuisine....

Your support is greatly appreciated and would go to a great cause...

Many thanks

Tony
