Story

Having run the London marathon ‘badly’ in 2007, I hung up my runners for 15 years, aged, put on weight and generally became unfit!

So having agreed to run the London Marathon 2022 and raise £2000 I have thrown myself in at the deep end of training for this very worthy cause.

Having suffered with injuries over the last 14 weeks I thought that there is no way that I would get as far as I have so this is the reason for the late FUNDRAISING PUSH as I am as ready as I will ever be.

Your kind support, running advice and generous donations to The Countryside Alliance Foundation would be kindly appreciated - thank you!

A bit more about my chosen charity:

Castaway is a new programme from The Countryside Alliance Foundation which supports men and women affected by all types of cancer, to improve their physical and mental health through ongoing engagement with fishing and the countryside. Castaway’s one-day fishing programme caters for those who have finished treatment and offers an introduction to fishing, and the wellbeing benefits of the Countryside, in a fun and supportive environment.

Fishing for Schools was developed by world renowned fly fisherman Charles Jardine, who saw the potential for angling to educate and enrich learning. Since 2007, Fishing for Schools has taken young and often less privileged people out of the classroom and into the countryside, developing confidence and learning new skills.

About the campaign

About the charity

Many children and young people know little about the countryside and rural way of life. Its programme of educational initiatives will introduce them, and their teachers, to the beauty, importance and diversity of our rural heritage, inspiring them to become passionate about its future and protect it for future generations.
