Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year's Longest Day Up event is being dedicated to my brother, Brian, who sadly passed away last November to cancer, having taken part in the challenge himself in 2015 whilst in remission. My father is currently undergoing treatment for the same disease himself, and Cancer Research UK is a cause very close to mine and my families hearts.

The challenge is to ride a £300 motorcycle over 900 miles from dusk until dawn on the longest day of the year. This is made even harder by the fact that no motorways can be used.

I intend to ride the pants off my trusty rusty red tiger (Triumph Tiger 1998- was a write off but after hundreds of hours, is now back on the road). I will be completed the challenge with my brothers son in law, Lee (my nephew in law). Lee will be riding the same bike Brian used back in 2015 'The Red Rocket'.

My family and I are making a week of it since it's dedicated to Brian, we will be riding down to Lands End a few days beforehand with our support van in hand. Then all driving up to John O'Groats and spending a couple of days recovering before making the delightful journey back home. Between us all driving our different vehicles for the challenge we will be doing a combined effort of 5436 miles over the week.

Like most people I have lost family and friends to this hellish and indiscriminate disease and I know others bravely battling through it right now, like my father. I want to help in the fight to eradicate cancer from daily life as soon as possible

We can all do our bit, please give whatever you can, no matter how little.
