Top of Town Marathon, Stroud · 10 February 2018

Acorns supports around 750 children and almost 1,000 families every year. The charity needs to raise £11 million each year to provide its lifeline care. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable. Together, we are stronger.

Story

10th February 2018

Stroud runners like to train on hills, the most notorious of which is known as the top of town, a simple 1.1 mile hill with the choice of two ways up. Some of us used to joke about doing it twice, theres a nice loop you can do, but few were interested

Then for no clear reason I ran it 4 times in 2014. Noone wanted to join me. By 2016 Darren and Lee decided they'd join in, not quite a winter fixture yet, but we enjoyed the sick joke of doing it 12 times to make  the top of town marathon. Lee needed a few days off work after the effort and all was forgotten.

2017: Darren remembers the top of town marathon idea. So we're doing it. Because it's there.

376ft climbed per lap. So thats 4500ft by the time we've done 12. A bit higher that 3 Empire State buildings or one Ben Nevis.
