Story

Hiiii👋🏻

First things first: THANK YOU for taking the time to visit my just-giving page, we’re raising money for Cancer Research UK!

You’re probably all thinking “whyyyyy Tori?!”

Well if you’re new here:

Why CRUK?

In 2018, I lost both my maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother to fast and aggressive forms of cancer. In 2019, I completed the Pretty Muddy race for life in memory of them and raised just over £170 (plus gift aid). That was an incredible experience and it felt so good to be able to give back SO WE’RE DOING IT AGAIN LADS!! To mark five years of their passing, we’re doing “same same, but different” (as my dad would say).

In 2020, we also lost my great aunt to cancer. So this event is in memory of:

Carole Ellery 🖤

Alfred Stokes 🖤

Maureen Wildman 🖤

Why MMA ultra?

I know, I know, crazy right!? I have NO business taking on something like this 🤣 but I’ve done the running, I’ve done the skydiving, I want to set myself a whole different level of challenge this time. I’ve seen a lot of people in my town do charity boxing matches, which is awesome! But because I see it often, I thought why not do something that I haven’t seen anyone do. And what’s a mild concussion compared to months of intensive chemo anywayssss? I want something painful, I wanted to be pushed to my limits and I wanted it to be earned. Why? Because nothing good comes easy.

What will I be doing?

So fight night will be 26th November 2023. It will be a black tie event (strict formal dress code) and you are more than welcome to purchase tickets to attend (I knoooooow some of you would pay good money to see my annoying ass get lamped/knocked out so now’s your chance💀).

Tickets will be available nearer the time, any issues please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will pass on the link!

Training starts 8 weeks prior to the event. It’s going to be intense but fun! During that time, I will be observed and then matched up with an opponent of similar weight and ability. Weigh ins are a few days before fight night so I won’t know who I’m against until then.

The fight itself:

Will be 3 rounds of 2 minutes.

Winner decided by stoppage submission or decision.

Anything goes bar elbows, kicks to the head, neck cranks and foot/spine locks.

My goal

The minimum required to raise is £50. I have set my minimum target to double that (£100) because I think we can achieve it given the amount of time we have before the event. Ideally, I would really like to beat my previous total of £170🤞🏼 (and win my fight, ha ha).

As always, I’m forever grateful to everyone that donates, shares, shows up to support and sends words of encouragement. Each and every one of you are much appreciated, together, let’s kick cancer’s ass💪🏼
