Story
At the start of this year, everything changed. A sacral stress fracture turned my plans for a year of running challenges upside down and sent my mood spiralling. I had to pull out of the London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon, Berlin Half Marathon and a Half Ironman. The events I had trained and hoped for were suddenly gone, and with them, a huge part of my identity and routine. I felt isolated, hopeless, and stuck in a place I hadn’t expected to be.
Recovery has been a slow, tough road - and running is still out of reach. But I’ve found strength and purpose again on the bike, and I’m setting out to ride from London to Paris to raise money for Action Medical Research.
It’s not the year I’d planned, but I’m determined to turn it into something meaningful. I want to show that with resilience and a positive mindset, you can keep moving forward. You can find new goals and new ways to thrive.
This cause is also close to my heart through my work on the paediatrics ward at York Hospital. Every day, I see the impact that medical research has on the lives of children and their families. From breakthroughs in treatments to better care systems, research gives us progress - and hope. Children are the future so they deserve every opportunity to grow up healthy, strong, and full of potential.
I’m aiming to raise £1,900 - every donation helps and has the power to make impact. If you can, please support me on this journey. Share it, donate, cheer me on, (help me learn how to fix a bike!)!
Help me turn setbacks into comebacks! Time to learn some proper bike maintenance and hit the roads I guess!
