Story
Two conflicts have left millions of Muslims trapped in a humanitarian tragedy. More than 2.5 million Syrians have been forced to flee their homes and find safety in neighbouring countries, while 300,000-plus people from the Central African Republic have fled the ethno-religious violence in their nation to seek safe haven elsewhere
The Central African Republic (CAR) is one of the poorest countries in the world and it is currently facing the worst humanitarian crisis since its independence.
Inter-communal violence has significantly increased since December 2013. The anti-Balaka militia have been systematically attacking Muslim areas severing people with machetes in an attempt to forcibly remove all Muslims (15% of the 4.6 million population).
There are over 250,000 refugees in neighbouring Chad, Cameroon, DRC and Congo Brazzaville. About 80% of them are suffering from diarrhoea, respiratory infections or diseases, like malaria - and a fifth of children are severely malnourished. We desperately need funds to provide these people with access to clean water, sanitation facilities, food, emergency shelter and medical assistance.
