In April we will be partaking in the Marathon des Sables. Billed as the ‘toughest race on earth’, the event is a 6 day, 152 mile race through the extreme desert conditions of the Sahara in Morocco. We've teamed up to raise money for The Children's Trust (<a href="http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/">www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk</a>), a local charity to us in Surrey. Every year, over 5,000 children sustain a brain injury so severe that they are left unable to walk, talk, swallow, communicate or even breathe by themselves. They are the only UK charity to provide care, education and therapy to children with multiple health disabilities and complex health needs.  Any money we can raise will help The Children’s Trust continue their fantastic work and reach out to many children, by providing critical support and services to them and their families when they need it most. The 3 of us entered the Marathon des Sables together on a whim over 2 years ago. We are running it because we are a little bit nuts, and also because it is a once in a lifetime physical and mental challenge. The reality of what we will be undertaking  in April is now very real with early morning gym sessions and endless training miles being covered at the weekends. The distances we will be running will vary each day, though the highlight(!) is the infamous  ‘Long Day’, a 50 mile stage where we’ll undoubtedly finish during the night. Enduring the temperatures, desert dunes and having to carry all our kit will add to the challenge. To make each sandy step a little easier, we'd really appreciate your help....
