Tour De Galles 2017 · 19 May 2017

Welsh Refugee Council supports people seeking safety to build new futures in Wales through specialist advice, support and advocacy services. We are driven by human rights, equality, and social justice, to make Wales a welcoming nation of sanctuary for those seeking our protection.

Story

The Tour de Galles is now entering it's fifth year.  With 968 miles covered in that time, we will passing 1,000 by the time we pass the Rhigos on the the 19th of May.

As usual, although the camaraderie on the is well established, the purpose of the Tour is to raise money.  This year we are fundraising for the work of the Welsh Refugee Council - who have been speaking out on behalf of those who are fleeing persecution, conflict and oppression for 25 years.

About Welsh Refugee Council

The Welsh Refugee Council supports asylum seekers
and refugees, offering a wide range of services as they navigate their way through the UK immigration system and transition into their new life in Wales. For over 25 years, the charity has been speaking out and providing practical support to those fleeing persecution, conflict, and various forms of injustice and abuse.

As a group, Tour De Galles are working to raise
money for the very important Destitution Support work the Welsh Refugee Council carries out in our local region of Cardiff and across Wales.

What is destitution support and how will my donation directly help?

Asylum seekers and refugees can experience
destitution and homelessness when navigating through the asylum system or transiting from asylum seeker to refugee.  On an average week the Welsh Refugee Council supports over 60
people
with homelessness and destitution.

Your money will directly help the Welsh Refugee Council to deliver food parcels, clothes, baby items toys and support with homelessness so every single penny counts. This is a vital lifeline for many, unfortunately, it is not always possible to provide this support as resource become more and more stretched.  The charity always very grateful to our friends, individuals and community groups who continue to support the work they are doing in this area and Tour De Galles as a group feel passionately about supporting this cause.

Please give generously!
