We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

We’re riding to increase awareness of Type 1 diabetes and to
raise funding to help find a cure so that children don’t face a lifetime of
painful injections five times a day and more.

The life shortening chronic condition also known as Juvenile
Diabetes as it often comes on during childhood, is an auto immune disease where the body destroys the insulin making parts of the pancreas. Nowadays, it is often in the shadows of Type 2 diabetes which impacts many more people and is regularly linked to lifestyle factors than the more serious condition.

Charlie Walker is one of around 10 accountants riding for
the charity. Charlie has been a type 1 diabetic for almost 40 years. As a
collective we all work within TaxAssist Accountants running local friendly practices helping small business. Charlie runs Bedford, St Neots and Huntingdon offices and the three-day ride will start and end at the Bedford shop.
