Story
I'm cycling in Tour de Bristol this Saturday, to raise vital funds for St Peter's Hospice.
The last 6 month have been the most challenging we have ever had to face as a family. On November of last year my dad unfortunately lost his battle to brain cancer. Nothing can teach you how to prepare for losing someone so close to you. He was stoic throughout his whole illness and this is testament to his character. He was able to enjoy life much longer that anyone predicted and I am forever grateful for the extra years we were able to enjoy with him.
I could not have asked for a better father. He was immensely supportive of anything me and my brother showed an interest in. He would spend most of his Saturdays taking us climbing and follow this up on a Sunday, standing on the side of a rugby pitch in the rain watching us play. I remember he would mark his students books in the car whilst waiting for us to get on the pitch. Always putting us first and finding time to fit his work around us.
I'm tearing up writing this but with time I have been able to look back on my time shared with him and look back fondly over all the incredible memories I was able to share with him.
This ride seemed like the perfect event to get involved with in his honour. Anyone who knew my dad would know how much he loved cycling. He would be out on his bike almost daily so I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike for him.
St Peters Hospice were invaluable during his final months. I would go as far as to say we could not have coped without them. With this in mind I would appreciate any money you can spare to put towards this amazing cause.

St Peter's Hospice gives the best care possible to anyone who needs it across the Bristol area. They provide support within the peaceful surroundings of the Hospice itself with space for family to stay over, as well as in the comfort of a patient's own home. Their teams are dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of patients, but also to their families and those close to them, to support the bereaved throughout the most difficult of times. I will be taking part in Tour de Bristol, tackling the miles and hills on my bike, to support and fundraise for St Peter's Hospice. Any amount that you can spare for this cause would be greatly appreciated.
