Story
Bringing up children and raising a healthy, happy family is hard work at the best of times. When a child is born with or develops a terminal condition, the emotional and physical impact affects the whole family and can be overwhelming. At Demelza, we focus on supporting each child, young person and family we work with to achieve the best possible life. As specialists in care for young people and family support, we will continue to use our outstanding knowledge, experience and expertise to help families enjoy their lives together.
As parents/carers, relatives and friends of families who benefit from all Demelza offers, we are determined to support the hospice through this most challenging of times - and maybe shake off some lockdown weight at the same time!
So, from From Friday 4th to Sunday 27th September, we are collectively going to cycle, run, walk, swim, ride...the distance of the (slightly) more prestigious ‘Tour de France’ – a grand total of 2,156 miles.
Times are tough for many, but every pound really makes a
difference. There is no official target, other than ‘whatever we can raise’.
- £5 could pay for a telephone conversation with a parent in need of advice
- £11 could pay for a precious hour of care by a Demelza Health Care Assistant.
- £50 could pay for a cast of a child’s hand or foot for a family to treasure forever.
- £100 could pay for a support group of a child with a terminal condition or a member of their family.
- £250 could cover the average cost of a family going through the referral process to access vital care and support from Demelza
