Story

Dear Friends & Readers,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I am excited to share with you my road to The Durrell Challenge and why I have decided to join the 13K race in May, 2018!

For the last couple of years, I picked up running as a past time to explore the new cities I lived in and also find the fresh air that only a park, a concrete jungle or bay area can provide. Slowly, my hobby opened the door to races and introduced me to projects that supported wonderful causes around the world. This year I find myself in a new city (London!) and as everyone that knows me well - challenge myself to do more and step out of the little bubble. I am beyond excited to develop a platform for the first time to support The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Living and moving around the world for the last 28 years has opened my eyes to the importance of conservation and Wildlife ecology. It is a subject that deserves more of a spotlight in this ever changing world and is vital to be taken more seriously.

The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has been involved in numerous projects, from controlling invasive species, training for conservation success and rebuilding wild populations to just name a few. Species that may well be saved as a result of the Trust's effort include the western lowland gorilla, the Sumatran Orang Utan, the flat-tailed tortoise, Madagascar big-headed turtle, narrow-striped mongoose and Madagascar teal.

For the upcoming annual challenge, my goal is to raise £1,000 for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in order to support their valuable efforts to preserve endangered species worldwide. Hopefully with your help this can grow the current platform to educate future generations, preserve vital species - and potentially even entice you to join the cause and run with me!  We can all make a difference and all donation amounts are welcomed, and greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Tamara
