Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As part of 'Team George Stephenson' I completed my 17th Great North Run this September to help raise funds for our school's (George Stephenson High School) chosen charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. We aim to raise a minimum of £10,000 this year. This charity was very dear to the heart of the beautiful Helen Robertson, a wonderful teacher and much missed friend. Helen sadly died in August last year as a result of a rare complication called Amniotic Fluid Embolism whilst giving birth to her gorgeous daughter, Niamh. Niamh didn't get the chance to meet her amazing mum - by raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People we hope to help keep Helen's memory alive. Thankyou to all of the generous people who have already sponsored me, I really appreciate it. This page will stay open for a good while longer than my legs will ache, so if you haven't already done so you can still sponsor me!
