Sleepouts are a sponsored event where participants can get an insight into what street homelessness is like for the people who live like that everyday. They are designed to give an idea of what it's like to sleep rough without the risk.

Story

Most of us are pretty lucky to have a roof over our heads and food on the table, and we often take such basic needs for granted. But unfortunately for many this Is not the case, so many people in our community are sleeping rough, living in unsuitable accommodation,, living in their car or sofa surfing. The toll it takes on a person both mentally and physically is extreme. The average age a street homeless person in the U.K is expected to live is a mere 47 years old !

With 449 deaths of homeless people between Oct 2017-Oct 2018. (That’s more than 1 person everyday!) We can see why we need to reach out and help, it can be the smallest act of kindness, it all adds up. So that’s why I’m asking you to donate anything you can to Turning Tides. I’ve visited them recently and I was amazed at what these guys do. In our local community hub, they provide a breakfast, a hot drink. Advice, support ...and many services to get them back on their feet. They do incredible work.

Seeing their clients feel valued and them knowing there are people that care was genuinely heart warming. So please help me, help them. Please give what you can, the colder months are setting in, and they really need our help. A sly twist of fate and this situation can happen to any of us. It’s said 1 in 3 are 2 months pay from losing their homes. So if you’re lucky enough to have the things many can only wish for please consider Skipping that cup of coffee on the way to work or not having that extra pint this weekend with your mates, and give that money to Turning Tides instead. Thank you.
