Story
This is my brother Craig.
He was diagnosed with terminal cancer on 6th March 2015, 5 weeks later on April 13th at just 26, he died.
Just under 5 years ago Craig noticed that a small mole on his neck looked darker. He went to have it checked out and the very same day he was admitted to hospital to have it removed. He was told it was melanoma a type of skin cancer. 3 weeks later he had a further operation removing a larger area.
At that point the specialists said they were satisfied that it had all been removed and Craig went on to live a normal life believing that he was in the clear.
In February this year Craig went in to hospital for what was thought to be a routine operation. It was discovered that he was at stage 4 cancer and was affected throughout his body.
Although hearing this news was the very worst that you could imagine none of us ever believed that in just 5 weeks he would be gone.
I have since learned that melanoma is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer and due to its very nature, once it takes hold, it can affect all your vital organs leaving you with a very slim chance of survival.
That tiny mole was the catalyst for all the heartache and destruction that was to follow.
Craig fought with such Courage to the very end. He was an inspiration to us all.
A true warrior.
With Craig's blessing myself and Kathryn Miles will be running the half marathon.
