Story
Unfortunately, like many of us myself and my family have had to go through the difficult, harrowing and impactful journey of cancer.
My sibling at the age of 27 was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. To our relief, through early diagnosis, surgery and treatment she has kicked cancers butt. Going on to be a strong woman and also becoming a mother of 2 amazing boys.
Sadly, my 38 year old cousin, was diagnosed with a very rare and severe form of cancer. Throughout his treatment he never complained, and always tried to have a smile on his face and his cheeky sense of humour never wavered.
Despite his strong determination, he sadly died less than a year after his diagnosis.
Like many I could add to this list of relatives and friends, and like many this is something that so many can relate to.
This is why I have decided to take part in Relay For Life.
To celebrates the power of community fundraising, to make breakthroughs happen. Across the UK and the globe, teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading research to save and improve lives, then unite at an event to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making to beat it.
Here's how the money you raise powers progress:£60 could buy a microscope lens, allowing our scientists to focus on the small details that could help us beat cancer.£2000 could fund the CanRisk project for one day, which is developing a way to accurately predict people's risk of developing cancer so we can spot the disease earlier. When you fundraise for Relay For Life, you’re helping to bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. Thank you for your support.Together we are beating cancer.
