Greyhound Gap is a registered charity that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes death row Greyhounds and Lurchers who find themselves in a PTS situation in UK pounds.

Story

Greyhound Gap works with an army of passionate volunteers, as a charity it goes above and beyond to help dogs get their forever safe, warm and loving home.

I became involved with Greyhound Gap in December 2011.  I had two of my own dogs at this stage, Cesar my Lurcher and Pippa my Whippet.  I fell in love with sight hounds and knew I had the time and space to foster these sorts of dogs. I came across Gap on the internet and have never looked back.  In the past twelve months I have fostered Willow, Pickle, Krusty, Stinky Pete, Cooper, Biscuit and Phil.  My current foster dogs are Rio and Noddy.  I absolutely love fostering and it feels so rewarding to give a dog a home until their forever sofa comes along.  I love being part of Greyhound Gap and share my passion for fighting against the mistreatment of dogs.  I ended up keeping Willow who is now called Wilf because he was supposed to stay.  It was meant to be.

Greyhound Gap always needs more money to carry on the good work.  They go above and beyond to help dogs that are at risk of being put to sleep and have nowhere else to go.  It is that passion for saving dogs that I am proud to be part of.  I wanted to raise some much needed cash for Gap and decided that I hopefully could raise a good amount by shaving my head.

Just to be clear I have not taken this decision lightly and I am scared.

Having my head shaved is a small sacrifice to make if it helps some more dogs in need.  Yes, it looks like I will be cold for the next few months or you never know might need sun lotion to slap on my head (wishful thinking!) but I am hoping that people will realise that it is a big sacrifice to make and dig deep.

Please be assured that every penny you donate will go to help the dogs that come into Gap's care.

My head will be shaved at the Greyhound Gap Spring All Breeds Fun Dog Show on Sunday 5th May 2013.
