Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My story started 2 years ago when I lost my 'much loved' aunty to a women's cancer. To help combat my grief, after talking to one of my clients whilst I was cutting her hair, I ended up signing up to cycle India in my aunty's memory.

Jacqui (my client/friend) welcomed me to join her team BT , they were so lovely and welcoming I named them 'THE DREAM TEAM'.

Jacqui, had lots of experience with cycling challenges and I was really grateful for her support and guidance leading up to my first cycle. She gave me all the tips and tricks, best things to invest in (udder cream) that would make my journey a more comfortable one. I loved our appointments, chatting endlessly about what and how to pack, listening to her stories about previous cycles and the friendships she had made whilst doing them.

She was always such a 'VIBRANT' person to be around and leading up to India.. she wanted to have a 'pink bob', the perfect look to match her personality.

Ironically, Jacqui was also battling a woman's cancer and started fundraising for the charity not long after her own diagnosis.

About 6 weeks before we were due to go, bad news came.. treatment was needed and there was a chance that Jacqui might not be able to make the trip.  We were all devastated, our group chat went 'quiet' whilst we awaited news of what might happen next.

It was of no surprise to hear that Jacqui had 'negotiated' her next phase of treatment, she was INCREDIBLE and she was DETERMINED she was going, even if it meant returning with the rest of our group (and not extending her trip, as first planned).

We travelled back to the UK together, we were exhausted.. cycling 250 miles sure does take it out of you!! (However I had no scope to moan)

My husband greeted us both as Heathrow airport and drove us back to Plymouth. Don then collected Jacqui, to take her back to Cornwall.    Little did I know, that would be the last time I saw her. :(

Jacqui, 'OUR QUEEN OF INDIA' sadly lost her battle to cancer, just 2 months later. I know that 'she was 'so pleased' that she did it!'

All my video footage of my trip to India, Jacqui is there.. giving it her all!! I remember saying 'this is living', as we all 'whoop whooped fist pumping into the sunset'.

I signed up to Thailand as I want to carry on with fund raising efforts for a charity that she was so passionate about.

Jacqui, Thailand is for you.. I would much rather have had you beside me again but you'll definitely be in my heart. I Thank you for introducing me to such a wonderful fund raising family.

I look forward to cycling alongside of Michelle, Claire, Lisa, Anne, Margaret and Pauline again. (The Dream Team )

I'm also very excited about completing the challenge with my youngest daughter and close friend Lynda (who lost her mum in law last year to breast cancer.

P.S. I measuring kilometres not miles ;)

I will self funding my travel, food and accommodation of this trip.
