Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

On Sunday 19th November 2017 I will be running the Wooler Trail Marathon, affectionately known as 'The Beast'.

*28.5 miles

*6063 feet of ascent

*6102 feet of ascent

I have 9.5 hours to complete the run.

It's going to be tough. Freezing conditions, off road, rough terrains and big hills! The challenging route goes across the Penninies and the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland.

I've never attempted anything like this before so why am I doing it?

I'm running in memory of my husbands close friend, John Ball, who lost his fight against cancer on 25th September 2017 at the age of 54.  We'd visited him in Lindsey Lodge Hospice the previous evening. I'd told him that I was going to run this marathon and asked him where he wanted the sponsorship money to go. He chose Lindsey Lodge and was thrilled to bits with the idea.

That was the last time we saw him and something he said stuck in my mind. 'I've got cancer. Cancer hasn't got me'. Brave words from a brave man who was taken from us far too soon.
