My family and majority of the UK have had experiences with cancer or knows someone who has. For anyone it is the worst possible experience you can go through! Spearing us on to try and do something about it...here's my story on why it is so important for me to do this every year...
Back in 2000 my nan, aged 72, was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which had spread into other organs by time it was caught, After 7 months (with no treatment I may add!) she lost her battle!
In 2004, my brother, aged 13, was diagnosed with a non hodgkin's lymphoma, which was initially thought to be treatable but later found out it was a unique strain and there wasn't a cure...after 4 months of battle he gave up his fight and went to sleep
In 2005, my cousin Shelly, aged 32, had suffered for 8-10months before her cancer had spread too far to be treated anymore.
More recently in 2012, my amazing aunty Carol, aged 65, who had fought a good fight for 5year, along with the help of Christies hospital in Manchester, sadly deteriorated too much to battle any longer and went to sleep to go and look after my brother!
We are hoping with the help of cancer research and supporters generous donations that other families will have a more uplifting tale to tell. Please do sponsor as much or as little as you can afford as it seriously does all count!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
