Three years ago I was diagnosed with COPD/emphysema and Asthma as I found walking short distances difficult (after having an emergency caesarean a year before). My consultant recommended I go on pulmonary rehabilitation as I could not tolerate most medications. This took place almost 2 years ago. I learnt about my conditions, plus joined in with exercise in a safe space. This helped me to improve my fitness, strength and stamina to the point that I was discharged from the consultant and even took part in 5k/10k events and walked longer distances. Although I still have my lung conditions (and still have some tough days) I literally will NOT let them keep me down!

I also want to raise awareness because our lungs are our lifeline. Yet many people are unaware they may be affected by a lung condition. Also those who have recently been diagnosed may be thinking (as I did) that it is a disaster and they may be spiralling into a dark place. I want to show them that with the right help and a positive attitude, your quality of life can increase.
