My half marathon time today was 1hr 57mins and 43 seconds. Luckily the pavements had cleared enough for a small number of us to safely run the route.

Hi there, I am running the Bath Half Marathon for the charity Transparency International UK (’TI’). TI fights corruption by promoting changes in values, attitudes and behaviours at home and abroad. Read more at http://www.transparency.org.uk.

I am running for TI because money laundering, bribery and corruption are the root cause of a whole host of issues. For example, money laundering enables serious and organised crime and there is also a “marked overlap” between money laundering and terrorist financing. It is estimated by the UK National Crime Agency that “billions of pounds” of the proceeds of crime are laundered through the UK every year.

TI was instrumental in the passing into law of Unexplained Wealth Orders (UWOs), which came into force earlier this year. UWOs are a new investigative power designed to help law enforcement act on corrupt assets.
