On October 9th, I am running the 2022 Chicago Marathon in support of the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago. 

My daughter, Vera, has been an active participant in Girl Scouts for almost 13 years.  First in Daisies and now as a intern summer counselor at camp Juniper Knoll.  Many of you may have even purchased cookies from her through the years!

Watching Vera, I have witnessed firsthand the supporting community created by the Girl Scouts; where a young girl can grow and learn to be an independent, strong, caring citizen of the world.  I am incredibly grateful to all within the organization who so willingly dedicated their time to give her that opportunity.

In running for the Girl Scouts, I am hoping to continue supporting their efforts to provide the same opportunities for the next generation of young girls. Unfortunately, due to a lack of necessary funding, the Girl Scouts GCNWI council has had to close many properties and reduce available programs over the last decade. Most notable to my daughter were the closings of Journey World, the only program space in the city of Chicago, and Camp Pokanoka.
