C-R-Y ing Out Loud · 30 April 2010
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last April I found out that the 26 year old daughter of an old colleague from my military days had simply not woken up one morning last October.
Please read Petes story here; http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/mccarthy_my_story.htm
Inspired by Petes story, I wanted to help 'Cardiac Risk in the Young' by fund raising and increasing the awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS), which is an umbrella term used for the many different causes of cardiac arrest in young people. I also want to 'spread the word' of the cardiac screening that is available to detect any abnormalities in anyone over the age of 14.
I hope to be able to get a Mobile Screeening Unit hold a testing session in Stratford upon Avon, giving an Electrocardiograph (ECG) and Echocardiogram (Echo) to as many 14-35 year olds as possible in my local area. How about trying to get one where you are!
As part of my fund raising, I will be running the Stratford 10K in September, Warwickshire Triathlon (400m swim, 23K Bike Ride, 5K run) and Snowdonia Marathon in October.
At some stage I would like to do 'Shakespeare's Walk'. The Bards 146 miles trek from Stratford upon Avon to London. http://www.shakespearesway.org/index_files/Page330.htm
Anyone like to join me?
I would really appreciate your support and sponsorship and if you get your 'younger family members' screened by having an ECG and Echo by being made aware of the simple tests, then half of my aim has been achieved.
Please sponsor me and help C-R-Y with their support to families affected by SDS, and with the Mobile Screening Programme
Thank you,
Trevor
