ISAAC is a network of Christians around the world involved in addiction and recovery work - support groups, rehabilitation centres, street outreach, counselling: you name it, ISAAC members are doing it.

I myself am in a leadership role at a rehabilitation centre, and have been involved in the ISAAC network for about 15 years. I am also now the "General Secretary" of the ISAAC Network. I have been privileged to visit other projects in many parts of the world (mainly in Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia) and have learnt first-hand the effect that the network can have on lives and projects. The work that ISAAC did to help drug rehabilitation centres in Russia to develop HIV work in their programmes has literally saved hundreds of lives - women and men who may have found freedom from their addiction but would not have otherwise understood the implications of their HIV on themselves, and their families.

ISAAC's role is to CONNECT, ENCOURAGE and EQUIP the people doing this important and difficult work, sometimes in really difficult situations and usually with fewer resources than they would like. The power of a network like ISAAC is in its members - people with great experience, skill and insight coupled with the desire to share what they have with others. ISAAC facilitates this sharing between its members, operating with as light an infrastructure as it can - ISAAC is skilled at making the most of the resources that it has!

However, there is a cost to serving our members in this way, and funding networks is always difficult. Some of our members contribute as they are able, but I am undertaking this sponsored event in order to raise some much needed funds to continue to grow and strengthen the network to better serve our members.
