Story
On the 14th of September this year I will be romping over the Brecon Beacons for 26 miles raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society with my colleagues from Arcadis. This walk is hugely important to me as in the same week a year before hand, on the 20th of September 2019, my Grandfather passed away with vascular Dementia and other complications, he was in his early 90’s. In addition to this his wife, my Grandmother is now in full time care suffering from Alzheimer's.
Arcadis have chosen the Alzheimer’s charity as their main event for the year and there are 6 walks taking place across the UK. It seems quite a coincidence that the year after my Grandfather passes the company chooses this charity… fate has a funny way of working!
During my childhood my Grandparents and I had many adventures spending many hours exploring the British countryside. In the coming month’s before his passing my Grandfather had some fantastic support which certainly prolonged his happiness, even though he had lost many fond memories.
Taking part in this walk will contribute towards care and research for Alzheimer’s and provide support to everyone effected by it. I would be grateful for any money you are able to donate even if it is £1.
Thank you.
