Allan The Alzheimers Society Fundraising

As you may or may not know Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2021, we are now a further 4 years on and dad and I have witnessed an exceptionally sharp lady deteriorate in front of us. Aside from the expected challenges, the added complexity for Mum is that part of that deterioration is Aphasia, so her language function has been hugely effected to a point where she has no real ability to have a conversation as her words are so muddled so we make the best of the situation and try to work out what she is trying to tell us. Those of you who have been affected by dementia know how heartbreaking it is and how it affects not only those that are suffering but those who are watching their love ones suffer.
….If anyone else here is experiencing a similar issue and has a loved one with dementia, I appreciate how difficult it is for you and your family, I feel your pain, I feel your frustration and I feel your sadness. It’s such an awful disease where you literally watch your love ones slowly lose a little bit more of themselves over time, it really is the long goodbye.
Last year I did The Alzheimer’s Society Devon coast walk and was absolutely blown away with everyone’s generosity. The final fundraising totally came in over £2000 which was way beyond anything I had imagined….Thank you, thank you so so much!
This year I’m taking part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Brecon Beacons trek and hope to be able to support the society and what they do for those suffering and effected by dementia with some more fundraising and hopefully, with your support achieve another £2000.
The Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
If you can support i would be truly grateful
Thanks and Love
