Story

I’m Emily, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt purpose. Recently my amazing mum, Anita, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Watching her face this journey with courage and grace has been both humbling and heartbreaking.

My mum has spent over 40 years as a nurse, dedicating her life to caring for others. She has been a rock for so many people, always showing up with kindness and an unwavering spirit. Together with my Dad, they have owned and run a nursing home for nearly forty years, providing care and compassion for dementia patients. They’ve touched so many lives, offering comfort to families during some of their hardest times. Now, as she faces this devastating diagnosis, it’s my turn to honour her incredible strength and give back in her name.

To do that, I’ve committed to walking a 26 mile hike on Saturday 14th June 2025 with my best friend, Lianne. This challenge is not just about physical endurance, it’s about raising awareness and support for all the families, who are navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.

Your generosity means the world to me and my family. No amount is too small, every contribution helps.

If you can’t donate, I completely understand, but you can still help by sharing this page with your friends and family. Spreading the word is a powerful way to make an impact.

I am completing this hike for my mum. A nurse, a caregiver, and my biggest hero. It’s also for the millions of families who are affected by Alzheimer’s every day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, love, and kindness during this challenging time.

With love and gratitude,

Emily
