On July 15th, on my 42th birthday, I am taking on a 13-mile trek across the Cotswold to raise funds for Alzheimer's, in loving memory of my Granny.

This cause is very close to my heart as my beloved grandmother battled this disease for the last years of her life. Alzheimer's slowly took away her memory, her smile, her cherished memories. However, her eyes still shone with the sweetness and love that she once had for everyone.

This charity walk is not just for my grandmother, but also for my mother, who had to manage and endure this difficult situation alone, feeling helpless and deprived of her own parent's love.

I am asking for your support to help other families who are facing the same struggles that mine has. Any contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated, and will go a long way towards making a real difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's.

By 2025, 1 million people will be living with the same condition as my grandmother in the UK, and many millions more carers, partners, familiarise and friend will be affected.

Il 15 luglio, nel giorno del mio 42º compleanno, affronterò un trekking di 13 miglia attraverso i Cotswold per raccogliere fondi per l'Alzheimer, in memoria amorevole di mia nonna.

Questa causa è molto vicina al mio cuore poiché la mia amata nonna ha lottato contro questa malattia negli ultimi anni della sua vita. L'Alzheimer le ha portato via lentamente la memoria, il sorriso, i suoi ricordi preziosi. Tuttavia, i suoi occhi brillavano ancora della dolcezza e dell'amore che una volta aveva per tutti.

Questa passeggiata di beneficenza non è solo per mia nonna, ma anche per mia madre, che ha dovuto gestire e sopportare questa difficile situazione da sola, sentendosi impotente e privata dell'amore dei suoi genitori.

Chiedo il vostro supporto per aiutare altre famiglie che stanno affrontando le stesse difficoltà che la mia ha affrontato. Qualsiasi contributo, grande o piccolo, sarebbe molto apprezzato e farà una grande differenza nella vita di coloro che sono affetti dall'Alzheimer.

Entro il 2025, un milione di persone nel Regno Unito vivranno con la stessa malattia di mia nonna, e molti milioni di altri caregiver, partner, familiari e amici ne saranno colpiti.

L'Alzheimer's Society sta trasformando il panorama della demenza per sempre. Fino al giorno in cui troveremo una cura, creeremo una società in cui coloro che sono affetti da questa malattia sono supportati e accettati, in grado di vivere nella loro comunità senza timori o pregiudizi.
