My wife Lin was having problems remembering things she had done just a few minutes or hours ago as well as not remembering what was said to her a few minutes ago. This was slowly getting worse over about 4 years and after cautiously mentioning it to Lin a few times over probably a year we managed eventually to both get over the difficult barrier of discussing memory loss and possibly dementia. This was despite her mum having Lewy Body dementia and her dad Parkinson disease before they died. I am sure it is not an easy discussion between loved ones for anyone!
After a 6 month process Lin was given the diagnosis of mild dementia for which there is a medication which helps to slow its progress. However, we both believe that an active lifestyle, enjoying the outdoors as much as possible and continuing as many of the things you like with your friends and family are also part of living a happy life.
