80 Miles for 80 Years

My mother has dementia. 2 kinds, Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia. I didn't know much about it before. It is a horrible disease, it slowly takes everything. Seeing it is horrible. We know about the memory it takes but there is so much more. It takes your ability to participate in life and do things for yourself. It takes your ability to feed yourself, wash yourself, dress yourself, go to the toilet yourself. It takes your family and friends because you no longer recognise them. It takes your golden years and sometimes those of your loved ones. It steals your dignity, and finally your life. The money involved in caring for someone with dementia is outrageous and for most unaffordable. Numbers of people afflicted are skyrocketing. One in 14 over 65 have it. Think of 14 people you know, at least one will have it. If you don't know someone with it you soon will. Please help me to raise money to find a cure and support people with this disease and those caring for them. Thank you for any support you can give. I am walking 80 miles, one for each of my mothers years over the month of September.
