Story
As some of you know, my father received a diagnosis of dementia in 2021. All diseases are cruel, but dementia eventually takes away the sufferer’s ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities. It also has an impact on those who are caring for loved ones – my family have experiences of this.
I have looked on at other people and what they have done for charities and felt truly inspired to do something too. People have kindly donated to Dementia UK to support the Admiral nurses in a challenge during September that I took part in. Now, I want to push on and do more.
On the 1st of June 2024, the Austin brothers will be doing the Trek26 in the Lake district in aid of Alzheimers UK – a 26 mile walk in 1 day around Ullswater, across various terrain. I (Mark) have never walked more than 8 miles on flat ground, let alone 26 miles on different types of land.
I hope you will be able to donate, not to support just us, but to the 900’000 people with dementia/Alzheimer’s disease and their carers and we will push ourselves to do what we can for these people too.
If you want to remain anonymous on JustGiving, thats totally fine but please let me know privately so that I can still thank you personally (thats important to me).
Thank you
