Story
I am doing this for Justine my friend and all the other families like them around the Uk who experience the heartache of the long good bye inflected by Alzheimer’s.
Here is Justine’s story,
Dementia has devastated our families, the weekend when we found out that the diagnosis for my mum was Alzheimer’s, I cried knowing the journey that we would have, seeing my mum going from a outgoing independent woman who enjoyed golf, camping,
bowls, bingo, socialising and her grandchildren to a person who has forgotten many names and many skills, we recently had to make the difficult decision of placing her in a nursing home, the right but hard decision on the family.
A year after my mum’s diagnosis, my father in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, again the emotions ran, and remember thinking how unfair to the families , Robert and my mum.
Roberts mobility has deteriorated over the last couple of years and is now bed bound being cared for by his wife and carers.
Losing someone to dementia truly is the long goodbye 💕
My family and two Amigos have decided to walk 26 miles to raise much needed funds to help researchers change the way dementia exists, thank you for supporting
us by donating to this worthy charity.
