Story
Next month my family and a group of friends are taking on the Alzheimer’s Society London walk! This will be our third year walking to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s!
As some may know my mum was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2023 at just 51. Alzheimer’s is such a cruel disease, and to see the devastating impact it’s had on my mum, the most incredible, gentle, kind and genuine person I’ve ever known, is the worst heartbreak I could imagine. My mum, despite Alzheimer’s best attempts, has the resilience, heart, strength and humour to be positive, caring and loving.
This walk is our way of showing that we will always try to follow her lead and face this disease with the same positivity, kindness and love she gives to everyone around her. It’s also our way of saying a huge f**k you to Alzheimer’s and dementia, to all the pain and grief they put those living with it, and the people who love them, through.
We’re walking to raise awareness, to raise money, and to hope for a future where no family has to go through this
I love you mum, please never stop being you.
