Story

I am taking part in memory of my Nan, Joan, who passed away last  year aged 96. She struggled with dementia in her final years but was still dancing in high heels into her 90s and loved a good party! She would have been the first to say go and do it.

I have done a few Treks over the years raising money for various charities but felt the Alzheimer's Society is a cause that needs our support and anything I can do to help, even in a small way, is the least I can do for my Nan.

I have Trekked to Machu Picchu in Peru, 40 miles across the Yorkshire Dales in 18 hours and 50KM across the Brecon Beacons. However, my ever increasing waistline, arthritic big toe and dodgy knee are hinting that these long walks may be less of a good idea now so this may be my last adventure (I say that now!).

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
