Eight years ago, as a family our world fell apart again;  after losing our father to cancer two years before, we then watched mum become enveloped into the cruel world of dementia. She was very ill for three months but with love, support and determination, we bought her home from hospital, created a care package and settled her back into her home. Eight years later she is still living independently, with great care and continued support from us her loving family. I really do feel as a family we have done this for mum with little support from external sources - I hope by doing this walk and making it public, it will raise awareness and help the fight against this cruel disease. No one should feel unsupported
