Story
16th May, me and my two brothers will be taking part in the Trek26 13 mile walk around Malham. Our goal is to raise money and awareness of the “Alzheimer’s society” charity.
We’ve all known someone who has suffered through Alzheimer’s and dementia. This charity provides much needed support for anyone who is dealing with this vile disease………………
I’ve lost both my Nanna and Grandmother to this and miss them all dearly.
I was very close to my Nanna. Her house was a sanctuary as a child and I’d often visit and watch films with her. I adored my old fashioned grandmother whom I used to visit every day in the summer holidays when I first moved to my dad’s.
Both were strong, independent and fierce women. As the symptoms slowly took hold of each of them, me and my family started to experience Alzheimer’s from the outside. Slowly it stole our beloved elders from us whilst we were gradually erased from their memory and the person they were slowly faded away.
Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
Alzheimer's Society, together we can be help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
