Over the last year GRIT has put over twenty teenagers struggling with mental health problems through a unique programme designed to reduce self-harming behaviour. It's been a steep learning curve but we are now in a great position to be able to grow the charity in a way which will allow us to reach more teenagers and help them to turn their lives around.
Last year GRIT raised an amazing £15,000 which put these teenagers through the programme funding weekly non-contact boxing, yoga, psychological coaching and mentoring. We are asking for your help again to raise £10,000 which will allow us to train our own coaches to deliver the psychological coaching through boxing. This will run alongside the mentoring and yoga.
A group of us, linked through Dr Louise (Doc) who co-founded the charity, will therefore be taking on the Snowdonia Triple Challenge on the 7th-9th June 2019. This involves a 9 mile bike ride, trek up and down Snowdon and then a 2 mile kayak. You would be right in thinking that this may not be much of a challenge for the athletes amongst us (who may be fine, fit specimens but utterly terrified of heights) so on the Sunday we will be zipping along the world's fastest zip wire at speeds of over 100mph!
We would therefore be very appreciative of any donations and with the number of characters embarking on this trip we promise we will share the entertainment.
