Registered Charity 1165203. We are volunteers, trained by the Ambulance Service, providing emergency lifesaving care to our local communities. After a 999 call we are dispatched alongside an ambulance; we are local and often the first on scene to preserve life whilst an ambulance is en route.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Nearly two years ago I ran the Nottingham Dirty Dash 10K and with the support of family, friends and colleagues was delighted to raise over £1,000 for this very worthy cause.  I'm now taking the step-up to a half marathon, a daunting task.

I am a volunteer Community First Responder (CFR) with the Trent District CFR group - call sign RA690; we are volunteers who work to support East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) by responding to '999' medical emergencies in our local communities.

While CFR's are trained and deployed by EMAS, we have to raise funds for all of our medial equipment and protective clothing, ranging from a pulse/oxygen meter at £20 through to an automated external defibrillator at £1,000.

In a cardiac arrest situation, the chance of survival without effective defibrillation reduces by 10% per minute - CFR's and the equipment that they carry can make a life-saving difference when minutes really do count.
