In memory of Trevor Gunning
The main focus of our research at Leicester is in the management of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) from laboratory research, to genetic links behind AAA and new treatments to make surgery safer.

Story

Last year my dad passed away unexpectedly which turned my world upside down and still doesn’t feel real to this day. Not a day goes by where I don’t miss him, he was my role model and the best dad that I could ask for.

He died from an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), something which lacks both awareness and research. The day before he passed, he visited hospital with stomach pain but it went undetected and he was sent home. If more were known about the symptoms and diagnosis of AAA, this could have been prevented.

Me, Harry Smith, Harry Cocker and Zane Smith have been training for the past few months to complete the 3 peaks challenge on the 25th of June. The 3 peaks challenge involves climbing the 3 highest peaks of Scotland, Wales and England within 24 hours, climbing over 10,000 feet.

We are raising money to further research into Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms to improve both detection and treatment. Any donations to our cause would be greatly appreciated. We are doing this in the hope that other families don’t have to go through the horrible pain of losing someone so suddenly to something that could be prevented.
