Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Before getting into the info about my challenge to assist some of you to dig deep I am putting forward a Game of Golf for three + me at Gleneagles or Archerfield please put your bid in as a donation and mention either Gleneagles or Archerfield (not both) in your comment regards the donation if you’re the highest donation the game is yours Gents and Ladies welcome.

So here I am yes I know what am I thinking cycling from London to Paris on a bicycle, I have already had a comment reminding me that I once said let’s get the taxi I don't do busses oh my god! It was a joke at the time but even funnier now! It's official I am now a MAMIL (Middle aged Man In Lycra) The Trip:- 85 miles day 1, 95 miles day 2, 80 miles day 3 & 57 miles day 4, Finish Line the Eiffel Tower, adding insult to injury they even want us to cycle through the Arc De Triomphe quite little section in Paris, I know what you’re thinking Nutter! Well maybe so but it's all to RAISE MONEY for SPARKS which has been a Charity that I have supported for many years due to their Pioneering Medical Research for Babies and Children, after all as the great man said they are our future.

It's a massive challenge for me because aside of my golf and walking since I exited the Army in 1992, I have not done any form of cardio training what so ever never mind sitting on a bike, well that’s a lie I visited Centreparks once for a corporate weekend with 600 others but I don’t think that was Cardio training. Admittedly I am proper nervous but I think that’s what is pushing me on. Especially after my first cycle ride last year where I was completely nacker_d after 7 miles.

Please help me help Sparks and lets all have a laugh at my expense along the way. Any donation you give will help no matter how big or small, I promise to update photo's no matter how embarrassing in my MAMIL OUTFIT to give you all a laugh (or you could always pay me lots of money not to post them LOL). Real training starts Sunday the 5th of Feb so be sure to check back regularly if you want a laugh. Any advice you can give aside of Don’t Do it will be greatly received.

SPARKS is an amazing charity I have been involved with for a number of years, and I really want to achieve something significant for me and them to help them- their funding and championing of pioneering medical research makes a real difference to the lives of thousands of children.  Ground breaking research supported by SPARKS is helping:-

- Prevent brain damage in babies that suffer from a lack of oxygen at birth

- Reduce complications linked to being born prematurely

- Combat conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, childhood arthritis and childhood cancers, such as neuroblastoma

- Develop more effective treatments and diagnostic tools for life-limiting conditions affecting babies and young children

SPARKS is currently supporting 40 research projects at high quality medical and research institutions across the UK.
