The communities we work with need to travel great distances to fight for their rights. They need to build connections with other groups, negotiate with government officials and confront their opponents - and they need to do so in person.
Travel in the Amazon doesn't come cheap. If a Chief needs to go to Brasilia to talk to the government it might cost £250. If a group needs to meet another who live 1,500 kilometres away it can cost £500.
We are establishing a permanent fund so that we can help with planned travel, and respond to emergency requests.
It is hard for us here to comprehend how not being able to travel can stop indigenous tribal people from asserting their rights. We take being able to travel for granted.
Please help us to set up this vital fund for tribal people in the Amazon.
No donation is ever too small. Can you manage to contribute just one percent of what you spend a year on travel? As an example, the average cost of running a car per year is around £2,500, so a 1% donation would amount to just £25. Can you help?
