Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So you may all be wondering what connection I have with Epilepsy research and why I am being crazy and running a half marathon to help support them.... well to be honest I dont have a huge connection with them but here is my story.....

About 4 months ago Adam my brother called me to ask if he could stay at our house the night before doing the Great North Run, hotels were scarce and us not being far away made us the perfect stop off point, of course I agreed!

Adam and I got talking and I asked him why he was doing the GNR and who he was doing it with. He told me about his friend Duncan who was running the GNR (as well as doing numerous other marathons and challenges to raise money for this charity) who had tragically lost their 12 week old son to a rare form of epilepsy. Still being in the baby bubble, Zara not much older than a year and a number of friends with bumps in tums this really hit home. I felt so saddened at this story and found their loss unimaginable. Based on these thoughts the next day I decided to contact Epilepsy research the same charity Adam and Duncan were running for to see if they had space for me to run. I thought if I can just run 13.1 miles and raise a little bit of money that will go towards research into this illness and maybe someone somewhere will not have to suffer the way Duncan and his family have.

I found it strange that we associate so many illnesses with babies and we worry about so many things, I would never have associated Epilepsy with babies and for this reason I wanted to support a very small charity that rely purely on donations and clearly do great work for an illness that can affect anyone.

So now I am calling on your support please. I know times are tough, rising prices, bills etcand people are always asking for sponsorship but please if you can spare any money to donate to this worthy cause it would be greatly appreciated by me (all my efforts would not have been in vain!) and more so by the charity and the families they support. How ever much or however little this is a time to make a difference and that £1, £5 or however much really will mean more to someone somewhere than it does to you (you know you can cope without a coffee and a cake this week!)- thank you!
